Season of Joy!

Have you noticed the “Christmas stir” to put up the tree, hang the lights, and listen to Christmas Carols seemed to have come early this year? The typical Christmas rush right after Thanksgiving seemed to arrive closer to Halloween this year. Why? The answer might be obvious.

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a very difficult year. We have felt burdened, fearful in uncertainty, and some of us, including our EAB family, have felt deep heartache. In the current state of our world, the coming of Christmas brings the anticipation of hope, joy, and comfort we so desperately want.

But is Christmas really all that different this year? Like every Christmas, we are reminded of the true meaning of Christmas. We are reminded of an all-powerful Father whose unconditional love sent His son, the Prince of Peace, to be born in Bethlehem, to live a perfect life, and to die with the weight of the world’s sins on his shoulders, to bring hope and salvation to all those who believe in Him. In celebrating Christmas, we do so to mark this amazing news!

Once in our world, a stable had something in it that was bigger than our whole world.”

– C.S. Lewis

The Star of Bethlehem brought JOY and HOPE to the three wise men who knew their savior had been born. This light has not faded, the joy and hope we have in Jesus still remains. As we prepare our hearts for the coming New Year, we also prepare ourselves for the coming of our King.

We hope this scripture brings encouragement to you in the coming year, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” Romans 15:13.
