REQUIRED COURSE PREPARATION

If you plan to take the NSF exam, it’s essential to contact NSF beforehand to make the
necessary arrangements. Per NSF Guidelines to start the application process you must email biosafetcabinetry@nsf.org with the following information, this should be completed 30 days prior to course:

1.
Proof of high‐school diploma or equivalent AND at least one of the two following:
  1. Completion of a training course on biosafety cabinets and evidence of one year of active participation in performing field certification tests on biosafety cabinets, demonstrated by the submission of twenty (20) test reports, five (5) of which must be from B1 or B2 cabinets. One test report shall be dated a minimum of one year prior to the date of application. Test reports shall include, at a minimum, the date of certification, test report number, location of cabinet, type of cabinet, manufacturer and model number, serial number of cabinet certified and data from inflow velocity, downflow velocity and HEPA filter leak tests.
  2. Minimum three years’ work experience performing field certification tests on biosafety cabinets, demonstrated by the submission of ten (10) test reports per year, two (2) of which must be from B1 or B2 cabinets. One test report shall be dated a minimum of three years prior to the date of application. Test reports shall include, at a minimum, the date of certification, test report number, location of cabinet, type of cabinet, manufacturer and model number, serial number of cabinets certified and data from inflow velocity, downflow velocity and HEPA filter leak tests.

Completed enhanced application (which will be sent directly to you by an NSF Coordinator)

Please be aware that there is a separate application process and fee for the NSF exam, and we cannot guarantee your participation in the exam if you have not made these arrangements in advance. A photo ID must be present for the proctor to administer the exam.

• EAB Training has no responsibility for applicant participation in the NSF/ANSI-49 Biosafety Cabinet Field Certifier Accreditation program. All interested applicants must contact NSF directly. Exams are typically administered on Friday/Saturday and Sunday following the Monday – Friday week-long class.

• Applicants must satisfy the pre-qualification requirements as determined by NSF. All exam-related costs are between the potential applicant and NSF International.
